Nearly everyone knows somebody who has bought a second hand car that they have regretted afterwards. It might not even be the case that we know somebody but that it actually happened to us. In most cases of this kind of regret, the buyer will share some of the blame. They will often have rushed into a deal without paying attention to the warning signs.
In order for you to avoid this type of regret in the future you will need to become a savvy buyer. The following are a number of tips that you should know when trying to buy a used car.
You need to learn how to handle the techniques used by professional used car sellers if buying from one. Many of them are very friendly and will try to get you involved in friendly chit chat so that you do not find out about any negative points of the deal.
Don’t let these guys knock you off track and if they seem illusive about any of your questions you should be suspicious. Make sure you have listed the questions you want to ask and do not leave until you get an answer to each of those questions.
When it comes to buying from private sellers you will have to be even more careful. You have to be sure that the seller is who he or she claims to be. Demand to see some type of legitimate identification such as a passport. Make sure that when you view the car, that it is at the sellers home or place of work so that you will know where to get in touch if you need to. Don’t allow the seller to bring the car to your home for you to view it.
Make sure you get a mechanic to have a look over the car. Don’t use someone recommended by the seller; choose this person yourself. Even if you have to pay a bit of money for the mechanics time it will be worth it because you can be more certain that you are purchasing a functioning vehicle.

There is no reason why you have to go for something boring if you are thinking about buying a used car. In fact one of the nice things about buying second hand cars is that it means there are a lot more options. These vehicles will be a lot cheaper than what you would pay for something new and this should mean that you will have a lot more to choose from.
You may find that there are some real surprises out there if you are patient and put some effort into researching. It may be possible for you to find a very affordable sports car or a convertible; the price will usually be lower than you think.
Even if you have the money to buy a brand new car, you may be able to get something that is a bit more fun if you choose a second hand model. The car of your dreams may not be something you could afford to buy brand new but if you look for a used model then you may be able to afford it. Fancy cars can depreciate very quickly.
This means that even something that is just 2 years old can be sold for less than half the price than what was paid for it. And if the person selling the car looked after it and kept it in good condition then you really could be getting a great bargain.
When it comes to buying things these days, people are becoming a lot savvier. The worldwide recession was something that impacted a lot of us and as a result we have learned to become more careful with out money. And we have also learned to get the most enjoyment from our lives.
So you can get a lot of enjoyment from your vehicle by purchasing a fun car second hand because that way you will be having fun without spending a fortune.
If you are on the hunt for used cars, then motoring.friday-ad.co.uk has it all, buy, sell and search for your dream car.

Children of the eighties were fascinated by the car that David Hasslehoff drove in the TV programme Knight Rider because KIT as the car was known could talk. So it is amazing that thirty years after this TV program had a fantasy car that could talk, we may be about to hear the next generation of cars saying hello to us.
There is a lot of money being invested in talking cars by many manufacturers but what they will be saying to us remains a mystery at the moment.
This year will not see anything unveiled but there is talk that Ford are developing a unique voice recognition system that will be able to understand more commands than you could think of issuing. What is even more impressive is the fact that they plan on making the car understand around 19 languages.
You could even ask your car for directions rather than refer to your satellite navigation system. So if you needed to find a hotel nearby then this is something you could ask the car instead of having to pull over to search with the sat nav. A less impressive version has been on trial for a few years in the US now but Ford are hoping to introduce the full system soon and are hoping to take it to Europe as well.
The good news for Ford fans is that their voice system is much more sophisticated than anything on offer at the moment but at 350ish it will be a luxury rather than a standard option. What is good though is that if you get in to an accident it can actually call the emergency numbers and inform them exactly where you are.
On the other hand you may be in more crashes because of it as safety campaigners have said Ford’s ‘Sync’ Voice system is preventing drivers from using their mobile through hands free which will cause more accidents.

Regardless of whether you’re looking to purchase a new vehicle or a pre-owned car and you’re wondering whether you should make the investment in an extended car warranty. You do have options when it comes to car warranties — the original car manufacturer’s warranty and the purchase of an extended warranty. When looking at warranties, an extended car warranty will extend the coverage that comes from your original warranty.
When you buy a car, it will usually come with some type of warranty from the manufacturer. The manufacturer’s car warranty will come with a specified number of years and/or mileage combination such as 10 years/100,000 miles or 36 months/36,000 miles. A manufacturer’s warranty will offer coverage that addresses power train issues or could even cover from bumper-to-bumper.
An extended vehicle warranty is typically something you’d purchase if you buy a pre-owned vehicle or if you want to extend the amount of time or extent of the coverage. Bear in mind though that some pre-owned vehicles come with some type of warranty – either from the dealer you purchased the vehicle from or there could be time remaining on the original warranty. Keep in mind too, that an extended warranty is meant to cover auto parts after the original warranty has expired.
There are seven main benefits and reasons for purchasing an extended warranty for your vehicle, they include: because autos cost more to repair than in the past, expenses could run into the thousands of dollars if you have an issue with electronic components or the drive train; many people drive more than 15,000 miles per year, and this could eat up your original warranty rather quickly; vehicles today are expected to run well into the 100,000 mile range so an extended warranty can offer protection for you well into the future.
Additional reasons for and benefits of an extended warranty are: the largest repair bills will likely come following the expiration of your original car warranty; a major repair will pay for itself in the benefits of your extended warranty; the purchase of an extended warranty has the potential to increase your vehicle’s resale value and has the benefit of decreasing your future financial risk; one major repair will quickly let you see the benefit of having purchased the warranty. A vehicle is a major purchase and because of that and because of the monthly payments you will be taking on, you need to weigh the benefits and the costs with the purchase of an extended car warranty.

In many instances people will rely solely on their garage to tell them if they have a problem with their car but a lot of the time they could determine the cause of any problems themselves simply by knowing what to look out for in the car and by referring to the user’s manual.
You might not even need your owners manual if you have access to a computer and the internet and in many cases you can sit there with your laptop and use it to get through all the steps of a certain procedure. However don’t assume that you will be able to fix every problem yourself because in certain cases, you are going to need to go to the garage in order to find out what the problem is.
Check Out The Malfunction Indicator Lamp Or The Engine Light
This light is usually indicative of a problem with the control system for the engine rather than a problem with the engine. The problem with this light however is the fact that it tends to go off and on and that means that people think the problem has gone away.
However without diagnostic equipment, you cannot solve this problem yourself and you will have to get the garage to do it for you because the fault code will more than likely be recorded in the computer of the car. It is probably wise to pull over if you see a number of lights coming on at the same time.
Anything from a dodgy spark plug causing the car to misfire all the way through to a complete lack of compression can cause the engine lights to come on. Some problems with your car may require the use of specialist equipment while others will be easier to fix.
One thing that you should not do however is use anything which could knock off the warning lights in your car; make sure the garage you are using is reputable so this does not happen to you.

If you have decided that you would like to upgrade your current car then you may want to get a trade in price for your old car from the garage; however, most garages will be hoping to make a profit on the car that you have traded in.
The exception is some garages that only hold stock of new vehicles and they usually have some other garage in the trade that has an agreement with them to take cars at a price that is good for both parties.
When you have spent years looking after a car and maintaining it, you are going to want to ensure that you get the most money for it when the time comes to selling it. It is important to remember that you do not need a degree to sell your old car and that you should be able to get the best price as long as you know what you are doing.
You should of course take care of the basics like making sure the car is clean before you arrange a viewing. Paying for a valet is more than worth it if it means your price won’t come crumbling as quick when the haggling starts. When you clean your car take out everything that doesn’t need to be there so that it looks as much like a show room vehicle as possible.
You should also get a service if one is due as this is something that any self-respecting buyer will ask when they view the car. If you do not get this done and the car is going to need one soon after it has been sold, then you can expect buyers to want to knock the price down even further.
You do not want to price your car too high if you want to sell it but you should definitely add around ten percent on to the price you are hoping to get for it because you will be expected to knock something off.
